📝 Example: Counting Sides and Corners

Question: How many sides and corners does this shape have?

Solution:

Step 1: Count each straight edge → 5 sides

Step 2: Count each point where sides meet (red dots) → 5 corners

Answer: This is a Pentagon (5 sides, 5 corners)

Remember!

For most 2D shapes: Number of sides = Number of corners!

Triangle (3=3), Square (4=4), Pentagon (5=5), Hexagon (6=6)
