Counting is like taking a rocket ride through numbers! Each number is one step higher, and we never skip any numbers. When we count forward, we say: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... all the way to 120!
π‘ Imagine a number line like a road in space - each number is a planet you visit in order!

Piggy Bank
Count pennies you save: Start with 1 penny, add 1 more each day. After 120 days, you'll have $1.20!
Some children skip numbers when counting fast, like going from 89 to 91. Always say each number clearly: 89, 90, 91!
Numbers have a special order, just like letters in the alphabet! Each number comes after the one before it. 5 always comes after 4, and 100 always comes after 99.
π‘ Think of numbers as kids standing in line - each one has their special place!
Line at Lunch
You're student number 15 in line. That means 14 students are ahead of you, and everyone else is behind!
Book Pages
Page 45 comes after page 44 and before page 46. You can't read page 46 without passing page 45!

Walking down the street: House 101, then 102, then 103... The numbers grow in order!
Birthday Countdown
10 days until your party, then 9 days, then 8 days... counting down in order!
Confusing 'before' and 'after'. Remember: The number that comes AFTER is always bigger!
Skip counting by 10s is the fast way to count! Instead of saying every number, we jump by 10: 10, 20, 30, 40, 50... up to 120. It's like taking an express train that skips stops!
π‘ Imagine jumping on number lily pads in a pond, but only landing on every 10th one!
Dimes Collection
Each dime is 10 cents: 1 dime = 10Β’, 2 dimes = 20Β’, 3 dimes = 30Β’... 12 dimes = 120Β’ ($1.20)
Egg Cartons
Most cartons hold 10 eggs (not 12). Count: 10, 20, 30, 40... 12 cartons = 120 eggs!
Class Groups
If 10 students sit at each table, count tables: 1 table=10 kids, 2 tables=20 kids, 3 tables=30 kids!
Fingers Counting
Use both hands (10 fingers): 1 person=10, 2 people=20, 3 people=30... 12 people=120 fingers!
Sports Score
Basketball points: Each basket is 10 points. Make 12 baskets = 120 points!
Forgetting to count all the tens: 10, 20, 30... then accidentally jumping to 50. Don't skip 40!
Counting by 5s is another quick way to count! We say: 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30... all the way to 120. Look at your hand - you have 5 fingers!
π‘ Each hand has 5 fingers. Count your hands: 1 hand=5, 2 hands=10, 3 hands=15!
Nickels Count
Each nickel = 5 cents. Count: 5Β’, 10Β’, 15Β’, 20Β’... 24 nickels = 120 cents!

Teacher gives 5 stars per week. After 24 weeks, you'll have 120 stars!
Mixing up 5s and 10s. Count carefully: 5, 10, 15 (not 5, 10, 20)!
Numbers follow patterns! In counting, we repeat the same digits but in different places. Look at 1, 11, 21, 31... or 5, 15, 25, 35. The pattern helps us know what comes next!
π‘ A hundred chart shows amazing patterns - like columns where numbers end in the same digit!
Ending in Zero
Numbers ending in 0: 10, 20, 30, 40... 110, 120. These are all the 'ten numbers'!
Ending in Five
Numbers ending in 5: 5, 15, 25, 35, 45... 115. These are halfway to the next ten!
The Teens Pattern
11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19 - all start with 1, then have another digit. They're 10 + something!
Twenties, Thirties, Forties
Each group of ten follows the same pattern: 21-29, 31-39, 41-49... all work the same way!
Confusion between 'teen' numbers and 'ty' numbers: Thirteen (13) is different from thirty (30)!
When counting real things (toys, books, apples), use a smart strategy: Touch each object once while saying its number. This helps you not count the same thing twice or skip anything!
π‘ Imagine each object getting a gold star as you count it - no object should get two stars or no stars!

Fruit Bowl
Count fruits: Take each piece out as you count. 1 apple, 2 oranges, 3 bananas...
Counting too fast and counting the same object twice! Slow down and use your finger to point.
'One more' means adding 1 to a number (like taking one step forward). 'One less' means subtracting 1 (like taking one step back). If you have 50 marbles and get one more, you have 51!
π‘ Think of a number line as a ladder - 'one more' is climbing up one step, 'one less' is stepping down!
Age Growing
You're 6 years old. One more year, you'll be 7. That's one more than 6!
Cookie Jar
Mom baked 75 cookies. You eat one. Now there's one less: 74 cookies left!
