Hands-on Practice Projects

Apply measurement and geometry skills through creative building projects

Greeting Card Craft

Create beautiful greeting cards using measurement and shape skills.

Steps:

Measure 15cm paper for the card base
Cut 2 triangles for decoration
Add 1 circle for a button
Measure and cut shapes to fit perfectly

Paper Boat Building

Build paper boats using geometric shapes and measurement.

Steps:

Use 3 squares for the boat body
Add 2 triangles for the sail
Measure 20cm for the boat length
Fold and create 3D shapes

Shape Collage Art

Create artistic collages using different geometric shapes.

Steps:

Cut various shapes from colored paper
Measure and arrange shapes creatively
Use rectangles, triangles, and circles
Create patterns and designs

Greeting Card Project

Project:

Create a birthday card using measurement and shapes

Materials:

Card: 15cm × 10cm, 2 triangles, 1 circle

Instructions:

  1. 1Measure and cut paper to 15cm × 10cm for the card
  2. 2Cut 2 triangles from colored paper for decoration
  3. 3Cut 1 circle for a button or sun
  4. 4Arrange shapes on the card and glue them down
  5. 5Measure to make sure everything fits nicely

Result:

15cm × 10cm card with 2 triangles + 1 circle = beautiful greeting card

Paper Boat Construction

Project:

Build a paper boat using squares and triangles

Materials:

3 squares for body + 2 triangles for sail = paper boat

Instructions:

  1. 1Cut 3 squares of the same size for the boat body
  2. 2Cut 2 triangles for the sail
  3. 3Measure 20cm for the total boat length
  4. 4Fold the squares to create the boat shape
  5. 5Attach the triangles as sails

Result:

3 squares (boat) + 2 triangles (sail) = floating paper boat

Shape Pattern Art

Project:

Create a pattern using different geometric shapes

Materials:

Rectangle + Triangle + Circle = repeating pattern

Instructions:

  1. 1Cut 1 rectangle from red paper
  2. 2Cut 1 triangle from blue paper
  3. 3Cut 1 circle from yellow paper
  4. 4Arrange them in a pattern: rectangle, triangle, circle
  5. 5Repeat the pattern across the paper

Result:

Red rectangle + Blue triangle + Yellow circle = colorful pattern

Measurement Challenge

Project:

Measure and cut materials for a craft project

Materials:

Measure accurately to create perfect shapes

Instructions:

  1. 1Use a ruler to measure 12cm on paper
  2. 2Mark the measurement with a pencil
  3. 3Cut along the line carefully
  4. 4Check that the piece is exactly 12cm
  5. 5Use this piece as a template for more shapes

Result:

12cm measured + cut accurately = perfect shape for project
