1. Measures of Center Overview

Purpose: Find a single number that represents the "center" or "typical" value of a data set.

Mean (average): Sum of all values divided by the number of values. Sensitive to outliers.

Median: Middle value when data is ordered. Not affected by extreme values.

Mode: Most frequently occurring value. Can have one mode, multiple modes, or no mode.

When to use: Mean for symmetric data, median when outliers are present, mode for categorical data.
