1. Measures of Center

Mean, Median, and Mode

These measures describe the center of a data set in different ways.

Mean (Average): Sum รท Count

Example: Data = 8, 12, 10, 14, 16

Mean = (8 + 12 + 10 + 14 + 16) รท 5 = 60 รท 5 = 12

Median: Middle Value

Example: Data = 3, 7, 9, 11, 15

Ordered: 3, 7, 9, 11, 15. Median = 9 (middle value)

Mode: Most Frequent

Example: Data = 4, 6, 4, 8, 6, 4, 9

4 appears 3 times (most), so mode = 4
