Master telling time and counting money!
A clock has two hands that tell us the time. Understanding how to read them is an important life skill!
Short hand (hour)
Points to the current hour. Moves slowly as time passes.
Between numbers? Count the smaller number!
Long hand (minute)
Each number = 5 minutes. Count by 5s!
On 3 = 15 min, on 6 = 30 min, on 9 = 45 min
💡 Quick Tips: When the minute hand is on 12, it's exactly that hour (3:00). When it's on 6, it's half past (3:30).
Example 1: Hour hand between 3 and 4, minute hand on 6:
Time = 3:30 (6 × 5 = 30 minutes)
Example 2: Hour hand on 9, minute hand on 3:
Time = 9:15 (3 × 5 = 15 minutes)
Example 3: Hour hand on 11, minute hand on 12:
Time = 11:00 (exactly 11 o'clock)
AM: Midnight (12:00 AM) to noon (11:59 AM) - morning hours
PM: Noon (12:00 PM) to midnight (11:59 PM) - afternoon and evening hours
• :00 = o'clock (exactly)
• :15 = quarter past
• :30 = half past
• :45 = quarter to (next hour)
